Action (action) is a genre of film art that illustrates the well-known thesis: "Goodness must have fists." The main character faces evil. Not finding the possibility of a peaceful solution to the situation, he resorts to violence, as a result of which dozens and sometimes hundreds of villains are destroyed. "Happy end" is an indispensable attribute of an action movie, evil must be punished.

Such a significant phenomenon as Ukrainian poetic cinematography has been in the circle of scientific interests of L. Bryukhovetska for a long time. Perhaps, that is why the chapter written by this author is marked by special thoroughness and persuasiveness. The appearance of scientific investigations, articles on the pages of such magazines as "Kino-Kolo", "Kino-Teatr", the publication of monographs devoted to certain problems of domestic cinema, became the basis for an in-depth generalization of the research of film studies and gave rise to the publication of "Essays on the History of Cinematography of Ukraine" under the auspices of the Institute of Contemporary Art Problems, Academy of Arts of Ukraine.

Cinematography has its own genre-genre structure. Unlike other forms of art, the birth date of cinematography can be named absolutely precisely - December 28, 1895. It was on this day in Paris that the brothers O. and L. Lumiere demonstrated their first film program, which contained short documentary sketches: "The exit of workers from factories", "Arrival of the train", etc. The films of the Lumière brothers started the trend towards creating documentary cinema, because in all their pictures a certain immediacy of real reality was recorded.
